Health & Safety Procedures
This page contains detailed information on procedures that we have put in place to protect the health and wellbeing of students & the instructor. If you have any queries about this policy, please feel free to
contact us. Please note, our procedures may exceed any legal requirements ande will not accept liability for any costs incurred as a result of failure to check these procedures, e.g. lost test fees etc. For ease of reading we simply refer to "lessons" on this page, but the same policy applies to all other services (e.g. mock tests & car rental for the test).
These procedures, as well as our
Terms of Service, apply to
all students, regardless of vaccinations and/or previous illness. This policy applies to COVID-19 as well as
other contagious illnesses, e.g. cold/flu.
Before your driving lesson
- The instructor will wear a mask during the lessons, and we ask students to please wear a face mask also. We ask students to provide their own masks, however we generally keep some spare disposable masks in the car in the event that you forget your mask.
- Students are asked, where possible, to use a face mask instead of a face shield/visor. Face shields primarily act as eye protection for the person wearing them and there is no strong evidence to suggest that they will adequately protect other people from your respiratory droplets. See this link for more information.
- Students are asked to avoid using masks that have a vent/valve at the side as these are not effective at preventing viral spread (Click here for more information).
- Some discussion may take place outside the car where appropriate.
- Students who have any symptoms of a contagious illness (including, but not limited to, COVID-19), or have tested positive for COVID-19, will be asked to reschedule their lesson free of charge. A list of symptoms can be found here.
- Students who test positive for COVID-19, or develop any symptoms of COVID-19, should not attend lessons until they have finished the full period of self-isolation as advised by the HSE (students should check the HSE website for the up-to-date guidance). Please note that, in addition to a specific minimum period of self-isolation, the advice may also state to continue isolating until your symptoms have been gone, or mostly gone, for a certain period of time. As driving lessons involve close contact, students should not attend lessons during any period where it is advised by the HSE to limit close contact with people outside your household (this may be recommended for a short time after the advised self-isolation period).
- Students who have symptoms of, or test positive for, any other contagious illness such as cold/flu/etc. should not attend lessons until advised per current healthcare guidelines (and in all cases, should be free of symptoms for at least 24 hours). While certain seasonal illnesses may seem very mild to some students, they may result in more severe symptoms for the instructor, other students, or people in the instructor's household due to factors such as age/medical history/etc.
- Students who have been identified as a close contact of a confirmed or suspected case of any contagious illness should follow HSE/government guidance & medical advice at all times.
- Where a student has been advised/required (either directly, or by the current HSE/government guidance) to restrict their movements or self-isolate for a reason not covered above, or for a period of time longer than specified above, they must not attend lessons until they are no longer advised to self-isolate or restrict their movements.
- Students may be contacted before the lesson to go through some questions to ensure it is safe to conduct the lesson.
- A negative antigen test does not mean that a student can attend lessons if they have COVID-19 symptoms.
During your driving lesson
- We ask all students to wear a mask throughout the lesson.
- For students who wear glasses to drive, and find that wearing a mask makes their glasses fog up, information on how to prevent that can be found on this page. Making sure your mask is fitted properly is particularly important.
- Nobody may accompany students on lessons.
- Windows will be left partially or fully open where possible, and the "re-circulated air" option will be turned off where possible.
- Follow cough/sneeze etiquette at all times.
- We have the facility to accept card payments in the car, reducing the need to handle cash (we will still also accept cash payments however).
