Health & Safety - Illness
This page explains the rules that we have put in place to protect the health and wellbeing of students & the instructor, specifically related to illness. Our
Terms of Service deals with other issues such as medications, alcohol, etc. If you have any queries about this policy, please
contact us. For ease of reading we simply refer to "lessons" on this page, but the same policy applies to all other services (e.g. mock tests & car rental for the test).
- Students should not attend their lessons if suffering from symptoms of any contagious illness such as cold, flu, or COVID-19. While we understand that some students may not wish to postpone lessons for an illness that seems minor to them, there are several reasons for this:
- The same illness may not be as minor for the instructor or other students.
- Research conducted in the UK and published in the National Library of Medicine (click here to view the paper) showed that people with the common cold were slower to react to unexpected events, drove closer to the car in front, and had a reduced ability to detect collisions.
- As your driving instructor is self-employed, becoming ill can result in lost earnings.
- Nobody should accompany students on lessons. There are other (safety/insurance) reasons for this in additon to risk of illness.
